Week 5 in the Canadian Lacrosse League opens with what could be the biggest matchup of the season. League-leading Ohsweken Demons (4-0) are set to host Niagara Lock Monsters (4-1) is a clash that could go a long way in deciding who comes out on top of the CLax standings at the end of the season.

Newbury Park scrimmage tourney sets stage for prep season

High school season gets under way this weekend, which means last weekend was time for scrimmages all over the Southland. I headed out to Newbury Park, where the Panthers were hosting the first Black Cat Winter Shootout, featuring eight prep programs from L.A. and the Conejo Valley, all of whom were playoff qualifiers last spring.
